RPOL.net - Role-Play OnLine.
I’ve been playing RPG games, and I’m talkiing about the real ones here, role-playing games, like the one that started it all, Dungeons and Dragons, since 1978. I haven’t been in a live game since 2002 or so, however. But I play fairly regularly on a web site called Role-Play OnLine, at www.rpol.net. This is a site that lets you set up your own games in their own message board areas, sort of like a bulletin board, like the old school BBS’s back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. The game master types up a post describing what the players see and then the players respond with posts that describe what they are doing. It can take a long time to play out an adventure this way, but it is still a lot of fun and some players really get into their writing.
I am running three games on there now. One is a Gamma World game, using D20 rules. One is Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 edition set in Monte Cook’s new Ptolus city/dungeon campaign setting, and one is also D&D 3.5 set in Green Ronin’s Freeport setting. The Freeport setting has kind of a pirate motiff to it. Right now I actually have slots available in the Ptolus game if anyone is interested in that. I spend a lot of time on these games but they are really entertaining and let me have a creative outlet. I spend a lot of time just drawing up maps for them.
Anyway, if you are interested in real RPGing, I highly suggest looking into RPOL, it’s a great site!
